The managing director of GLOBAL GEO and deputy chairman of the Chamber of Graduated Surveyors in Bulgaria, Mr. Roumen Georgiev, was part of the Bulgarian delegation which participated in the XXІV FIG International Congress (International Federation of Surveyors) held 10-16 April 2010 in Sydney, Australia under the motto Facing the Challenges – Building the Capacity. The next FIG congress will be held in Malaysia after four years. Bulgaria is the only Eastern European country which ever hosted a FIG congress in the distant 1983. For more information about the highest geodetic forum please visit the FIG congress website at http://www.fig.net/pub/fig2010/index.htm. The success for Bulgaria and for GLOBAL GEO is demonstrated by the following three acknowledgments:
- Real interest in future participation in the implementation of large-scale projects abroad was shown by the most powerful Bulgarian surveying companies;
- An international symposium on Modern Technologies, Education and Professional Practice in Geodesy and Related Fields will be held on 23-24 September 2010 in Albena, Bulgaria. The symposium will take place at the time when a session of the General Assembly of the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors will be held. The event will unite the two European organizations of the surveyors – the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE) and the European Group of Surveyors (EGoS), which have been cooperating long time, and are members of FIG and in their greater part are common members of these organizations. A unified management will be elected for the first time in Bulgaria.
- The annual FIG week of the two of the standing commissions of the federation: Commission 3 – Spatial Information Management and Commission 7 – Cadastre and Land Management, will be held in November 2010 in Bulgaria.
